When it comes to the "big one", I am terribly afraid of it. Major reason, the west valley fault is just 3 streets away from where I live. Over the years, I have been reading articles on the "big one" just to be on the safe side. As a family, we also have discussed where to meet, just in case it happens. And for us, it will be in UP.
I have already prepared a bag, with all of the family's important documents. But I have yet to prepare our go-to bag of emergency and first aid essentials. I NEED to do this ASAP!
These are my very thoughts while I listen to the speakers yesterday, July 2, at SM Marikina for the SM Cares Disaster Preparedness Forum.
Persons with disabilities and senior citizens were enlightened on the proper response to calamities, especially earthquake and flooding during the Emergency Preparedness Forum 2019. They were encouraged by the speakers to be alert at all times when emergency strikes.
Facilitating the forum are DOST undersecretary, Phivolcs directer and leading expert in geology and seismology, Dr. Renato Solidum Jr.
Present also was Dr. Ted Esguerra, who is an active member of numerous emergency preparedness and disaster response units around the globe
