As a family, we have always enjoyed travelling. We were very blessed with the opportunity to travel together to various Philippine destinations. Hence, I gave our family this nickname -- #BackPackSquad! Main goal, to travel light, to see the sights, one backpack at a time :)
As the kids grow, they are now more focused on their life in school. And soon... in a year or two, they will be both in college. Whew!
But as a parent, our travels are deeply etched in my memory. Of how I will pack their "baby necessities" and dumping it inside our old yellow car... and sometimes travel means 10-12 hours on the road. Or those times when we had to teach them how to pack smartly, and most importantly how to be always on schedule.
This is the most challenging part - schedule. We let them sleep early, for an early morning flight (we always book the first flight). That means, beating the two-hours-before-flight-we have-to-be-in-the-airport sked!
Upon landing, we are saddled with the 45minutes to 2hours of land trip to reach our destination (so far, the most challenging is travelling to El Nido where we travelled 6 hours from Puerto Princesa to El Nido proper whew!) This trip was also memorable, because the other family (the Bondocs) didn't make it to the flight, they were LATE, and had to purchase another set of tickets just to get to El Nido (What a hassle!)

THIS IS OUR AIRTRAV.PH STORY:
We've always wanted to go to Puerto Galera. In fact, I have already researched how to get there. Our option: is to ride the bus going to Batangas Pier (roughly 2 hours depending on traffic), then ride the ferry/fastcat to Galera (1-1.5hours). So on the average, it will take 4 hours to get to Mindoro.
But we reached Puerto Galera in 45minutes. Yes, you have read it right. Just 45 minutes via AirTrav Ph.
We left the house in Quezon City at around 6am, reaching Realship Yachts at Manila Bay CCP Complex (where AirTravPh's Seaplane will take off) at exactly 7:10. We had lots of time to spare before the Seaplane arrived. Five minutes before take off, AirTravPh's co-pilot weighed in our bags. We were asked to sign a paper, showed them our ID's -- and just like that, everything was ready for the flight. It was FAST and CONVENIENT.
Before boarding the seaplane, our pilot, Captain Joshua explained some safety measures we have to remember during the flight. We felt extra special on that day -- why? Because me and my hubby -- we had the plane all to ourselves. OMG! It felt like we were being chartered on our own private plane, with a very nice pilot, to a dream beach destination. Which was pretty AWESOME!
AirTrav's can accommodate up to 8 passengers per flight, and every one has a window-aisle seat. Everyone can enjoy the view.
It was my first time to ride a small plane, so I have to admit, I was kindda jittery at first. But when the seaplane reached its ideal altitude, I had the most comfortable plane ride of my life. At one point, Captain Joshua put the plane on "auto-pilot" mode, and he explained to how safe the plane was, the high-tech safety gears of the machine. How often can you have the experience of seeing the pilot at work, a view of the cockpit? Not often huh! This is really turning to be a one-of-a-kind experience for me.
We were just enjoying our VIEW and my chat with Capt. Joshua, but 45 minutes later, we were about to land. Where? At the shores of Fridays Puerto Galera. Yes, we landed on water!
Just like the flight from Manila to Galera, the landing was equally smooth.

What I liked about the place?
1. It was serene, quiet -- unlike the other beaches of Galera. If you just want to relax, unwind and recharge, this is the place for you. Since it is situated in a cove, it can only be reached via AirTrav or you can rent a boat from Muelle port.
2. Luxury rooms. The rooms were BIG. Complete with wonderful amenities like a Smart TV, bath tub, safety deposit box, wardrobe, a big sofa, your own lounge area just outside the room where you can relax and breathe in the sea air. And yes, all rooms in Fridays have a view of the sea.
3. For families, you can enjoy the infinity pool, with a view of the beach.
4. The beach was so relaxing. Above the sea, you can enjoy the powdery white sand, the cool blue waters. And below the sea -- another awesome view -- just a few meters from Fridays beach front, there were colorful corals and a variety of fishes to be viewed. But if you are a serious snorkeler, several meters from the shores, the coral reef is more diverse, more colorful. See, you don't need to rent a boat, and go island hopping to witness the corals and the fishes. This is because Fridays is situated inside the lagoons of UNESCO-protected Muelle Bay in Boquete.
5. Wifi was strong.
6. CRU Restaurant served great food.
7. Everyone, all the staff, were courteous and respectful. Always with ready smiles on their faces. We were really spoiled!
