The name intrigued me... ZEN. The urban dictionary defines ZEN as a total state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind. Zen is a way of being. It also is a state of mind. It is also something that I want to achieve -- amidst my "happy chaos".
The Zen Institute in Quezon City, emitted an aura of relaxed atmosphere. Right away, I felt at home and relaxed. If you are someone like me who is always in a hurry, a type A personality -- the ambience of the Zen Institute is a welcome change.

But what exactly is Regenerative Cell Therapy. The Zen Institute Medical Director, Dr. Mary Jane "MJ" Torres cheerfully explained to us all about this new technology.
Stem Cells are one of the human body's master cells, with the ability to grow into any one of the body's more than 200 cell types. Stem Cells contribute to the body's ability to renew and repair its tissues. Unlike mature cells, which are permanently committed to their fate, stem cells can both renew themselves, as well as create new cells of whatever tissue they belong to.
The Multipotent type of cell, such as the MSC's or Mesenchymal Stromal Cells have the capacity to differentiate into a more limited number of closely related cells without the risks of tumor formations.
The best characterized MSC's are derived from the bone marrow but its clinical use is limited because of the significant donor site morbidity and low yield. Thus, doctors are now harvesting adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSC's) which are similar to bone marrow-derived MSC's but with higher yield.
A high amount of ADSC's can be harvested in a 90-minute Autologous Cell Transfer procedure with minimal discomfort on the patient. ADSC's can be obtained in far greater concentrations than cells from bone marrow and there is no shortage of donor tissue, making it a preferred type of stem cell used for aesthetic medicine.
Regenerative Cell therapy helps promote the reparative response of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells or their derivatives.
