It’s Earth Day today. It’s the 46th year of this
movement. It was in 1970 when we
celebrated it first... when people started to be conscious of different
environmental issues... it was also the year I was born.
Earth Day reminds me of
things I enjoy, gifts of nature that are showered upon us.

From www.earthday.org --- "This Earth Day and beyond, let’s make big
stuff happen. Let’s plant 7.8 billion trees for the Earth. Let’s divest from
fossil fuels and make cities 100% renewable. Let’s take the momentum from the
Paris Climate Summit and build on it. Let’s start now. And let’s not stop."
In my own little way... I continue to be
conscious of the actions I make to save earth.
We built
a “green home”. One that is
facing east, to get the full benefit of sunlight through out the day,
minimizing the use of electrical lights.
We installed BIG windows to let the sunshine in, sunrise till sunset.
BIG windows also mean, letting the summer air in. In this scorching 43 degrees, we survive using
only electric fans.
I planted fruit bearing trees around the
house. It gives off oxygen, and I enjoy its produce. I also do a bit of organic gardening. Kitchen waste materials go into the soil to
sustain my arugula, herbs, and the trees.

I know these are just small means of helping
mother earth. But its a start. Looking forward to doing more things for
HER. We have only one EARTH to take care
of.... a home that has given us wonderful gifts in our everyday lives.
